What we do
Everything we do starts with partnership. We build trusted relationships with local CSOs, then work together to help them strengthen their organizations over time, while accessing more flexible and long-term funding.
Our role is not to lead this process, but to support partners through it: offering insights, tools, and connections where helpful.
Building stronger local conservation organizations
Our approach to organizational development is relational, long-term, and partner-led. We use participatory processes to help leaders and teams identify strengths, agree on priorities, and define what success looks like for them.
While every journey is different, our process typically begins with organizational reflection and self-assessment, before helping teams develop organizational strengthening action plans specific to their context and needs. From there, we provide long-term accompaniment through practical, hands-on support and a strong emphasis on learning by doing.
Depending on each partner’s priorities, the different areas we support with include:
Strategic planning
Monitoring, evaluation and learning
Communications
Financial management
Fundraising
Management systems
People & teams
Boards
Shifting power and funding
Frontline local organizations need more direct, flexible and long-term funding that enable them to operate, grow, and respond to local priorities. We support this by helping partners access the funding they need today, while also working with funders and peers to encourage more equitable practices over time.
-
In order to help partners secure funding that supports core operations as well as program costs, we:
Help them develop stronger, more competitive funding proposals
Connect them with donors who understand and appreciate their work
-
We collaborate with peers and partners on grantmaking and partnership practices to encourage dialogue and reflection. By elevating the needs and perspectives of local CSOs, we aim to shift the practices of funders and intermediaries towards a more equitable enabling environment.
