Menjadi strengthens environmental NGOs and connects them with the funding needed to grow and sustain their impact.
Our role is not to lead the process, but to support partners through it: offering insights, tools, and connections where helpful. We also work with funders to focus on equity in grantmaking practices.
Scope of work:
Organizational development
Our approach to organizational development is relational, long-term and partner-led. We use participatory processes to help leaders and teams identify strengths, agree on priorities, and grow their impact over time. This work is grounded in a systems approach that emphasizes the interconnectivity of organizational culture, teams and practices.
Every partnership is tailored to the organization's context, culture, and stage of growth, but typically follows three key phases:
-
Leaders and teams reflect together to identify strengths, challenges, and organizational priorities.
-
Based on these priorities, an action plan is developed which outlines organizational strengthening priorities and plans for the next three years.
-
We help partners follow through on their action plan, with a strong emphasis on learning by doing, and hands-on applied support.
Scope of work:
Shifting power and funding
The way funding is structured determines how environmental NGOs are able to operate, grow, and respond to local priorities over time.
We help NGO partners and funders build more equitable partnerships and address the power dynamics that are deeply rooted in the origins of the sector. Direct, multi-year funding that supports core operational needs, alongside decision-making processes that recognize NGOs as equal partners to the work, should be the sector's minimum standard.
